Garden Seeds // Pick a Plant Sale

It is plant sale season in the Valley.  If you are looking for plants, I highly recommend one of the following sales:

Boyce Thompson Arboretum Plant Sale:  March 10 - 25.  The Arboretum sale is a great place to get hard to find succulents and plants from southern Africa, as well as hundreds of other options.  Entrance fee required, includes guided tours.  $9/adult, $4.50/ages 5-12.  37615 US Highway 60, Superior.

Desert Botanical Garden Spring Plant Sale:  March 17 from 7am-5pm, March 18 from 9am-5pm.  No admission charge.  Desert adapted plants, herbs, perennials, cacti and succulents.  There are also garden experts to answer your questions, a used book sale and a vendor alley with food, pottery and garden accessories.  No entrance fee.  1201 N. Gavin Parkway, Phoenix.

Here is an ice plant I bought from DBG years ago:

Southwest Gardener's Spring Plant Sale:  Sunday, April 1, noon - 3pm.  This is a great shop in Phoenix!  Local grower Gregory Ware will be selling vegetable and herb plants.  2809 N. 15th Ave., Phoenix.

Arizona Rare Fruit Growers Spring Plant Sale:  March 17th, 8am-2pm.  Rare fruit trees such as pomegranates, papayas, bananas, blackberries and dragon fruit will be for sale.  This sale is at the Maricopa County Extension Office is Phoenix, 4341 N. Broadway Rd., Phoenix.  The Co-Op has multiple demonstration gardens you can visit free of charge as well.

I plan on attending the Rare Fruit Plant Sale to purchase a fruit tree - maybe a peach or papaya.  Wish me luck!
